The Shelf Signal
Accessibility statement

Built to be read by everyone.

Updated November 1, 2026. The Shelf Signal aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, the standard referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act and the European Accessibility Act.

What we do

  • Text and interface colours meet the 4.5:1 contrast ratio; verdicts and signals are never shown by colour alone (each carries a word or figure).
  • Every page has a skip link, landmark regions, one logical heading order and a visible keyboard focus ring; all controls work with the keyboard and announce their state to screen readers.
  • Images carry descriptive alternative text; decorative graphics are hidden from assistive technology; charts have a text equivalent beside them.
  • Forms have visible labels, error messages in text, and no time limits. Nothing flashes, and motion is reduced when your system asks for it.
  • The site works at 200% zoom and on small screens without sideways scrolling, and uses real text rather than text in images.

Where we are

The site is reviewed against WCAG 2.2 AA with automated checks on every release and a manual keyboard and screen-reader pass on new features. Known gaps are listed here when we find them; none are open today. Third-party content we link to (forecaster reports, trade press, video) is outside our control.

Tell us about a barrier
